Hi there. Reinstalling the camshafts after a shim replacement. Crankshaft accidentally turned while sprockets where off cams and lost timing...anyway, rotated the crankshaft to TDC of cylinder 1 according to the mark you can see by the window bolt on the side, put cams back in aligned to the marks on their caps, now, can anybody tell me if there is an easy way, or even how to tell if cylinder 1 is in the correct stroke? ie; intake or exhaust. I have set it all up and put cam caps back on and the engine rotates nicely, doesnt hit any valves or anything, but can this happen on both the TDC points of the cylinder or just the correct one? Cheers guys

Hi Mac,

One mark on the crank = one TDC position for #1. It is neither the firing or exhaust stroke until you put the cams in. If the cam timing marks line up, you have it.

Hi guys, hopefully your still following this post as I have a quick question.. How do you manualy rotate the crank on these fzrs? on my cbr theres a simple plate you take off from the right hand side of the engine, but on the fzrs I can t see any such plate to acces the crank bolt.. need to check timing as i think i might have skipped a tooth while cahnging the CCT.. cheers

Not sure about the 250s but for the 400s and 600s, you would use the flywheel bolt. Pull the stator cover (left side) and my guess is that it will be there.
