Ok, I finally got my act together and made everything needed for the kit. Price is $140 shipped and here is what you get for that.
'06+ R6 shock Dogbones powder coated black with two options. The closest holes will give you stock ride height with the R6 shock. The furthest will give you a slightly lower than stock dogbones. The end holes are really reserved for people just wanting to lower the bike with a stock shock. Bushings to go on each side of the shock. These allow the use of the bushing in the top of the shock without modification. The new bolt will be included.

Nate,
Nice kit. All, If you are a heavy weight (over 160 lb) like me, you might want to swap out the R6 spring for the stiffer FZR spring. This post has been edited by rotortech: Jan 17 2012, 06:11 AM -------------------- Read this first then ask questions:

Cameron,
The stock rear shock is really a dog and usually when they get old they are even doggier. The R6 rear shock will give you a fully adjustable rear suspension that you can tune. If you install it with the stock R6 spring it is probably softer than the stock FZR. This works pretty well if you are under 170 lb or so with gear. You can dial in a lot of damping if that is what you mean by stiff. The stock FZR shock is not adjustable or rebuildable. For the money, this R6 shock swap is the best bang for the money on the FZR600. -------------------- Read this first then ask questions:

I just fitted one of these kits to a 400/600 I'm building. The fit of all the components was spot on. I'm very impressed with the ease of installation - no more difficult than stock. The only hiccup in the installation is that a stock R6 shoulder bolt (not included in the kit I received) will be needed for the top shock mount. Fortunately I had one laying around but others may want to take note. Having spent stupid amounts of money on bikes and cars over the years, this is one of the best values I've seen.
I look forward to seeing how it performs (anything is an improvement over the stock POS) but I have some time ahead of me before it'll be ready for that. Thanks to thatkid! |
