Whats up guys,
I have a 90 1k. At my work there is an abandoned 94 1k. It has the stock exup ex and I'm trying to get it but I have some questions before I go thru the trouble. 1. It should fit my 90 head right? they should be the same? any fitment issues, clearances, etc. anyone knows of. 2. my 90 servo motor is mounted under my seat near the cdi box. the 94 is mounted under where the tank and seat meet and on the opposite side than the 90. so... a. I presume the cables are not the same, possibly diff lengths? I'd have to order 90 cables? b. my 90 has a full sys d n d with the cables removed but the servo plugged up, but the servo is no good has gears missing inside are the servos the same? they look the same its just that the 94 looks like its mounted upside down since its on the opposite side. 3. I have a vance and hines cdi box with programable ign advance( i think this is what it does i never alter it I leave it at stock settings) with it at stock settings will this affect the signal to the servo? I'll have to google the box and see what it does. you remove a lid and underneath is a circuit board with 4 swithes and however you arrange them in a series of patters it alters something, like 1 up and 3 down is one setting then 2 up and 2 down is another setting, etc. I got the bike like this I did not put any of these components on it. According to my manual the exup only came on european and california models. but I don't think this is a cali bike. any answers and a little history lesson would be appreciated. -Nick |

Try http://fiche.ronayers.com/Index.cfm/Module/WhereUsed and look up your vehicle part numbers with his cross-reference. If you don't have the OEM part numbers look them up on same site and put them in the search field to find all the bikes that same part works on. Makes eBay cheaper and nicer too as you might be able to get you part cheaper when it is a less-popular part, or the seller/lister doesn't know all the bikes the part will work on.
I found that that the EXUP servo is the same as a FZR600 for the year I have (90)... as for the cables, as long as they aren't too short your biggest concern is the free play/slack. Even though Yamaha says the part #s are different (and they are) I bought a 600 EXUP servo and its cables to put on my 1000- and it works fine. good luck and keep asking good questions Brittus This post has been edited by Brittus: Feb 5 2010, 11:06 PM |

Hey, ronnie
I used the link that brittus put up in the post previous about the reverse parts look up to see what parts interchange between model and year. According to that link it did not show the 91 being a part that can be interchanged. If I can verify that they do, I'll let you know cause I may be interested in the parts and I appreciate your offer, Thank you. But let me ask you this... If you remember, when you took the servo off of the bike, did it mount to the subframe on the right hand side of the bike (if you were sitting on the bike) because here is the thing - On the '90 the servo is mounted to the subframe on the left side kind of under the riders butt. I don't know if the servo's are geared diff internally due to the different orientations. |

I've never seen a 90 FZR 1000 come through the shop that didn't come with the EXUP. None of them were euro or cali bikes either. They were all bought here at the local yamaha shop. Mine's not euro or cali either and it's got it.
The 89-90 are interchangeable, but there's quite a few differences between the 90 and 94. 91-95 has a longer wheelbase and a different rear subframe that may cause troubles. -------------------- Cobalt blue metallic 1990 FZR 1000 with yoshi slip on muffler, a little jetting, road racer style gutted airbox, 1040cc bore kit, ported and)polished. Got most of the mods from the previous owner undone, or more importantly done right:)

I have an EXUP header, servo and cables off of a 1990 in great condition. The header has been plastic blasted inside and out and painted with high temp black paint the exup halve was greased with high temp grease and moves free.
